There is no greater personal cause in my life than normalizing discussions around mental health. I have personally struggled with mental health issues at different stages of my life, as have many people I care for and love, and the stigma and lack of knowledge and understanding around mental health, repeatedly, only worsened my (and their) efforts to recover. In 2000, after a family member became ill, I started volunteering at NAMI in New York City. It changed my life. In the past few years, I have joined the board of directors of the below mental-health nonprofits.
At Bring Change to Mind our mission is to end the stigma associated with mental illness. We currently oversee over 200 high school programs throughout the United States, where students are encouraged to openly discuss their mental health with their peers.
At Backline our mission is to connect music industry professionals and their families to mental health resources.
